Can Ecstasy or Mushrooms be taken sublingually?
Q: If you put E or mushrooms under your tongue or chew them up will it work better then swallowing it? Can you even do this?

A: If substances that are water soluble come in contact with the mucous membrane for a prolonged period of time, they can enter the bloodstream more quickly that when there are swallowed (where they have to go through the digestive system/liver first). Some vitamins and prescription medications are administered in this way. The main reason people don't do this more with mushrooms, MDMA and other substances is because of the taste.

Additionally, chewing a tablet or mushroom before swallowing it, even if it's not held in the mouth, is likely to increase the speed and ease with which it is absorbed in the stomach, meaning that effects are likely to come on more quickly than if swallowed whole.
