Is there kerosine in Cocaine?
Q: is there any kerosene in cocaine? i heard it is used in the extraction process, i do not beleive this and would like to prove a friend wrong.

A: Kerosine is in fact used in the process of making refined cocaine from the leaves of the coca plant. This does not, however, mean that there is Kerosine in cocaine. Solvents such as Kerosine are used to extract alkaloids out of plant material, and as long as pure kerosine is used it should evaporate cleanly leaving no residue.

Poorly made cocaine could possibly contain strange residues from kerosine or any number of other chemicals used in the production process. If cocaine smells or tastes like kerosine, it shouldn't be used.

For more info about the process of making cocaine, see Cocaine Production.
