Abstract
Techniques used for the analysis of psychotomimetic compounds are reviewed. Dibenzopyran compounds (delta-1- and delta-9 -tetrahydrocannabinol, cannabivarin, tetrabydrocaanabivarin, other cannabinoids and hashish being mentioned) can be identified or determined by color reactions (CR), TLC, column chromatography, GLC, IN and UV spectroscopy (S), fluorimetry (F) and phosphorescence. Phenethylamines (mescaline and derivatives and amphetamines) could be analyzed by CR, TLC, GLC and F whilst lysergic acid derivatives (LSD and lysergic acid amide) were determined by luminescence, F. GLC, MS and S. Tryptamine derivatives (N,N-diethyl-, N,N-dimethyl-tryptamine and their heptafluorobutyl derivatives, bufotenine, psilocin, psilovibine and psilocibine) were analyzed by CR, TLC, GLC, S and F. whilst Iboga alkaloids (harmine, harmol, harmaline, harmalol, 1,2,3,4tetrabydroharmine, mitragyine) were determined by CR, TLC, S and F. Standard analytical reactions of primary amines were used for ibotenic acid and muscinol whilst myristicine and elemicin were analyzed by CR, GLC, MS and TLC.
