Abstract
The study includes psychological tests in 30 volunteer subjects under the influence of LSD which were compared with the same tests performed in a drug-free state. Subjective reports of persons who took on their own account doses ranging from 25 mcg. LSD up to 500 mcg. ALD-52 (more effective than 250 mcg. LSD) on average 100-150 mcg. LSD in 35 patients (4-5 sessions per patient). . The psychological tests showed a lessening of ego defensiveness, loosening of intellectual controls and increased emergence of unconscious material. . The subjective reports varied widely. . In the therapeutic study the unconscious showed a regularity resulting in 3 levels. The recall leads progressively toward more painful memories which arise to consciousness. In 3/4 of patients repressed memories were recovered; often emotions must be re-experienced. The second level is the stage of personal acting and includes the world (various countries, epochs). In the third level the individual seems completely unrestricted and may experience a higher order, truth and love, and he can accept himself without condition. This experience which is called "integretive" leads to reduction of the internal conflict. The various levels seem to be connected by symbolically masked affects, as in dreams, myths and fairy tales.
