“Lysergic acid diethylamide effects modified by hydroxyzine hydrochloride.”.
Confinia neurol.. 1959;19:40-51.
Abstract
The effects of LSD (100 mcg.) given orally to 5 normal subjects are described. Two weeks after this initial study 200-225 mg. hydroxyzine (Atarax) was given [orally?] before and during the effect of LSD. Hydroxyzine modified the secondary psychic effects of LSD on affect and mood, reduced the duration of LSD effect from 6 1/2 - 8 1/2 hours to 4 1/2 - 7 hours and caused the effects of LSD to be less unpleasant. Hydroxyzine did not alter the effect of LSD on the EEG (increase in alpha rhythm).
