Abstract
LSD causes a marked concentration of pigment in the melanophores of the toad (Xenopus laevis). The extent and duration of this effect are directly proportional to the concentration of LSD. . LSD has no effect on pigment dispersion produced in vitro by corticotrophin (intermedine.) . These findings suggest that LSD does not act directly on the melanophores but indirectly by inhibiting the production and/or secretion of the melanophore hormone.
