-(4-piperidyl) benzhydrol hydrochloride given by mouth daily for one week blocks the psychotic effects of LSD but not the bodily effects. In one instance the psychotic reaction to LSD was abruptly terminated by i.v. administration of the blocking agent. Observations on two subjects suggest that mescaline-induced psychosis may be blocked in a similar fashion.
