Since only very small doses of LSD are required to produce an effect it is thought that LSD-like substances could play a role as "aetiological connecting links" in psychoses of the acute exogenic reaction type. It might be possible to use WITT's spider test to demonstrate their presence in cerebro-spinal fluid.
