A bit of background information. I am male, a regular cannabis user and have experience with a range of both common and novel substances, inclusive of various legal and illegal stimulants, dissociatives, sedatives etc.

Setting: At a friends house, visiting her following a traumatic event involving her boyfriend ending up in hospital following an opiate overdose. Chilling watching some television, she is drinking some beer but I have refrained from doing so. Both smoking some mediocre-quality cannabis sativa procured from a friend.

0.00: Already mildly stoned, having smoked 2 3-skinner spliffs (mixed tobacco and cannabis). Decided to try a single 10mg generic Buspirone tablet obtained a long time ago, which happened to be in my bag (was looking for roach). Swallowed with glass of water.

0.15: That feeling I get when smoking cannabis where I can occasionally find myself slightly on edge seems to be relieved. Not on the same level as when one takes a benzodiazepine, but still drastically reduced. Relatively surprising as I always believed that buspirone was the type of chemical which needs to be built up in the blood-stream over a period of days. Possibly placebo, but I'm fairly sure it isn't. Rolling a spliff.

0.30: Another spliff pretty much gone, and with the spliff goes all anxiety. This is certainly NOT placebo any more. Offered a beer by the lass I'm with, but politely refuse as I am cherishing this moment.

0.45: Another spliff rolled and sparked up, feel slightly more sedated than I would from cannabis alone but not in a sleepy kinda way. More chilled. Imagine 10mg Diazepam - kinda like that.

1.00: One last spliff before packing in my little experiment. Nothing more to report apart from a continuation of the aforementioned.

Conclusion:

I can conclude that, in combination, it can prove helpful for reducing/eradicating paranoia and anxiety I associate with cannabis use. I would like to stress, however, that buspirone alone does not really have much recreational potential.
