PMA
Timeline
by Erowid
May 1970 PMA is available on the street in the United States. 1
1972 Several deaths attributed to MDA in 1972 and 1973 in the U.S. appear to actually have been caused by PMA being sold as MDA.
Sep 21, 1973 PMA is placed in Schedule I of the CSA, making it illegal to buy, sell, or possess. 2
mid 1970s PMA is sold as a recreational psychoactive under the names 'Chicken Yellow' and 'Chicken Powder'. 3
1980s PMA withdraws from circulation on the street market. There are few if any reported cases of PMA related deaths between the late 1970s and the early-1990s. 4
early 1990s Several deaths in Australia originally reported as MDMA (ecstasy) related deaths are determined to have been caused by PMA sold as Ecstasy.
2000 Two PMA related deaths are reported in Chicago after PMA is yet again sold as ecstasy.
2000 - 2001 Nearly 20 deaths around the world are attributed to tablets containing PMA sold as Ecstasy. 5   [Details]
