Earliest known reference to chocolate candy in the UK in an advertisement for Fry's Chocolate Lozenges.

The advertisement appearing in "Butler's Medicine Chest Directory' describes the lozenges as 'a pleasant and nutritious substitute for food in travelling or when unusual fasting is caused by irregular periods of meal times.'
