Net.cops firewall: I have no monetary profit whatsoever with the publication of this book. I like the book, and recommend it to anyone wishing to know more about the subject of drugs. - Richard _ _ _ _ _ Date: Sun, 12 Mar 1995 18:01:16 -0800 From: Fred Leavitt <...> I'd like to make people aware of the recent publication of the 3rd edition of my book "Drugs and Behavior." The 525 page book has chapters on the following: neurotransmission, principles of drug action, classification, variability in response to drugs, development of new drugs (I discuss some terrible things that drug companies do in developing & marketing drugs, & show that misprescribing is a major drug abuse problem), dangers & benefits of drugs, effects of drugs taken during pregnancy, legalization (I'm in favor of legalizing everything), users & abusers, prevention & treatment of abuse, drugs used in psychiatric practice, & drug effects on memory, creativity, sex, aggression, & sleep. Reviewers liked the previous edition. A reviewer for J. Amer. Med. Assoc. wrote "It is the sort of book that should be on everyone's reading list of basic texts and standard reference works." A reviewer for Brit. J. Psychiatry wrote "...it must be difficult to read this book without finding a new field worthy of personal pursuit." He called it a classic. The book is available in paper ($30) & hardback ($65) from Sage Publications, 2455 Teller Road, Thousand Oaks, CA 91320 --- Please send information about drug prices for the Drug Price report to me, .
